Unusual figural composition titled "Workers in the Field" that combines the artist's scultural, faceless approach and Mid-Century painting trends. Signed and dated 1965 on the lower left. Newly framed in a double floating frame.
Stella Shawzin (1920-2020) was a multidisciplinary artist. She is internationally known mostly for her monumental figurative sculptures, but she originally trained as an actor, singer, and dancer, participating in theater plays and films. Later, upon moving to New York, she expanded her mediums to include graphics and painting.
In March 204 Cabinet of Curiosity presented an exhibition dedicated to the lesser-known side of Stella Shawzin’s body of work: the exploration of South African harbors and field landscapes, people, and their heritage, depicted by the artist in the mid-20th century.
