Ink drawing by Michael ffolkes incorporating two textual elements: the pencilled note along the upper edge reading “Lord Rudolph sends his headmaster a picture postcard to say he's not coming back,” and the caption beneath the image, “Smith Minor has sent you a rather amusing postcard from Brighton, Tomkins.”
The composition depicts a school staff room, with teachers gathered around piles of postcards scattered across the floor and furniture, delivered by a G.P.O. postman entering through the doorway. Interior details include the “STAFF ROOM” sign on the door and framed images on the walls. Signed ffolkes at lower right. Newly framed under museum glass.
