About

A set of six Paris porcelain dinner plates with a pale apricot-beige ground and gilded lobed rim. The centers are painted with the Pelham-Clinton crest, framed by a blue garter bearing the motto “Loyaulte n’a honte” and surmounted by a ducal coronet. The floral borders vary in color and composition, forming a garland around each plate. Produced by Boyer, Rue de la Paix, Paris, circa 1864–1879. Five plates marked “Boyer, Rue de la Paix 22” in red, one incised “M.”

The Paris firm of Boyer was active during the mid-19th century, operating from 22 Rue de la Paix – an address renowned for luxury retailers serving the French court and international aristocracy. Boyer specialized in fine porcelain services and presentation pieces distinguished by their refined enamels, delicate floral decoration, and heraldic motifs. The workshop supplied bespoke tableware to noble families, including commissions for English patrons, at a time when Paris porcelain represented the height of European taste and craftsmanship.
