19th-century porcelain bowl by the Samson manufactory, known for its reproductions of historic porcelain designs. Based on a model by Rockingham (Brameld & Co.), the bowl is of lobed shape with a blue ground exterior, decorated with gilt floral sprigs and a connected gilt border. White-ground cartouches are hand-painted with baskets of flowers and scattered floral sprigs. The form tapers to a raised footrim. Marked on the underside with a gilt griffin and “Manufacturer to the King.”
