Regency era mahogany carved chair, featuring a shaped crest rail with carved shell and rosette ornament, curved uprights, scrolling arms, and a carved anthemion splat. Raised on sabre legs and retaining its detachable upholstered seat cushion. Preserved in good antique condition.

Attributed to W.M. Bielby, one of the to a member of the Bielby (or Beilby) family of Yorkshire furniture makers, upholsterers, and joiners active during the late Georgian and Regency periods. Documentary records identify several members of the Bielby (or Beilby) family working in Bridlington, Pickering, and Hull during the first half of the nineteenth century, including Matthew Bielby, William Bielby, and Richard Bielby. Their recorded occupations included cabinet making, upholstery, and joinery, reflecting the regional furniture-making traditions of Yorkshire during the Regency era.
