A pair of Chinese elm armchairs of tall-back form with a curved top rail, broad central backsplat, shaped arms, and square seat, raised on straight supports joined by stretchers. The chairs retain surface wear consistent with age and use, including marks, scratches, old chips, splits, and losses. There is particular wear to the footrests, with evidence of earlier repairs to the undersides of both seats and to one back leg. Both chairs are solid and stable.
