About

A pair of large demilune-shape jardinieres, each with a marble-veneered structure supported by four cylindrical green marble columns with gilt details. The white scagliola* friezes are decorated with Neoclassical swags, ribbon bows, rosettes, and central floral baskets, while the shaped lower shelves carry further foliate ornament. Each retains a metal liner.

*Scagliola is a decorative material made from plaster, pigments, and binding agents, polished to imitate marble or other hardstones. It was widely used in European interiors and furniture from the 17th to 19th centuries.
