About

Pair colorful, parcel-gilt Art Deco vases in trumpet shape by Royal Worcester Crown Ware. The vases feature identical patterns of landscape motif with  cypress trees, rolling hills, distant architecture, in color palette of rich orange, yellow, and green. The details of the landscape are highlighted with gilt, and the inner sides of the rims are decorated with scroll patterns. Gilt marks "Royal Worcester – Crown Ware – England" are visible on the base along with the code (C?)W388 (text unclear) and the pattern number A 99/46. Preserved in great antique condition, the surface has visible craquelures due to natural aging.

Founded in Worcester in 1751, Royal Worcester became one of Britain's most celebrated ceramic manufacturers. The company achieved international recognition during the nineteenth century through its porcelain, artistic wares, and exhibition pieces, receiving numerous awards at international expositions. Its production ranged from fine porcelain and hand-painted cabinet pieces to decorative Crown Ware intended for both domestic and ornamental use.
