About

Keyaki wood plinth with hand-painted Japanese calligraphy. The surface is inscribed in black ink with red annotations written in kuzushiji, the historical Japanese script used for Buddhist texts and chanting practice. The vertical composition follows the format of devotional boards displayed in temple interiors. The wood shows natural grain and patina from age and use.
