French Empire lit-en-bateau, bed, early 19th century. Sculptural form in rich mahogany with bold ormolu mounts: seahorses and helmeted winged warriors anchor the scrolled ends, while a central gilt frieze radiates around a classical medallion. Originally fitted with turned top rails. Preserved in great antique condition, visible wear on the surface due to natural aging. One of the ormolu mounts is glazed with transparent varnish due to previous restoration. The custom made mattress is included to the set, measuring approximately (but not exactly) a twin size modern bed.
