About

A ceremonial kulah khud helmet from Qajar Iran, formed as the head of a div (demon) with protruding horns and a pointed finial. The steel surface is intricately acid-etched with vegetal scrolls and animal motifs, framing the damascened facial features – eyes, nose, moustache, and fangs – rendered in silver. The helmet is further adorned with two side aigrettes, a nasal guard terminating in a circular disc, and its original camail of riveted steel links.

Mounted on a custom stand. Excellent preserved condition with minor wear consistent with age.
