About

Antique albumen print, an enviromental portrait of people at the barber shop, probably taking place at Bulak district, Cairo. The print does not hold any signatures, and the composition was printed by studios of Zangaki Brothers and Abdullah Freres in different years. Attribution of the photographer and the origin of the negative are unclear: some sources suggest that it could be created by Otto Schoefft (1833-1900), other refer to Emile Bechard. Slight signs of wear and fading. Newly framed.
