Set of vintage porcelain plates by Fornasetti, mounted into sprung holders for wall decoration. All are from the "Strumenti Musicali" collection and include patterns #1 - 2 pieces, #2 - 1 piece, #3 - 3 pieces, #4 - 1 piece, #5 - 2 pieces, and #6 - 1 piece. This collection pattern is characterized by gilt graphical musical instruments on the faux-malachite ground. All are stamped on the verso by Hutschenreuther (LHS, Bavaria, Germany) and Fornasetti hallmarks.
"Malachite, the rare green stone found mostly in Russia, had a particular charm for Fornasetti, and he imitated it in many contexts, some quite impossible in the real world - a bicycle, a dish with musical instruments inlaid like intarsia and a whole suite of furniture made at various times between 1952 and 1958." – from "Fornasetti, designer of dreams" by Patrick Mauries, 1991.
