"Resting the yoked oxen" is an Egyptian pastoral, depicting figures of people and animals. A man yokes two oxen in the background, while a small flock of ship drink water, supervised by a shepherdess, and a sited figure of a boy spinning yarn. Beautiful pastel colors.

Monogram “FG” on the lower left. The original frame features a plate with the artist’s name and the title.

Frederick Goodall R.A. (1822 - 1904) – was a British Orientalist artist, who traveled to Egypt and exhibited in the Royal Academy.
