Fine, high knot density, short-pile wool Kashan carpet with traditional Persian design. Intricately detailed polychrome composition with a large central medallion surrounded by a delicate scroll border. Wonderful combination of colors, predominantly ivory, blue, pink, and orange. The selvages and short fringe seem to have been redone. Great condition for an antique piece, with localized wear on the pile.
Kashan is a city in central Iran with a long history of carpet weaving. Not only the elegant designs but also the high-quality wool and durability of Kashan carpets are valued by collectors.
