About

A beautiful Orientalist watercolor depicts a city bazaar with groups of people. In the center, a man walks toward the viewer. The artist carefully painted architectural details of the street: roofs, columns, and arches. On the left, two men and a lady are sitting and having a conversation. On the right, a man supervises his grocery corner, with baskets of dates and fruits. Signed "L. Tesson" on the lower right.

Louis Tesson (1820-1870) was a French Orientalist painter, famous for his watercolors of Maghreb countries.
