About

Possibly a Yangere African drum from Central African Republic. These special African drums are used as musical instruments, ceremonial objects and means of communication. Slit drums with hollow chambers and long narrow openings that echo when struck with two wooden drumsticks are carved with human faces. Drums were used as ornamental pieces bringing high social status to the owner, confirming power and honoring the ancestors.
